learning. and one small fail.

This past weekend, we made the trek to the booming metropolis of Yazoo City, Mississippi. Tommy's parents have a very good friend lose his mom. So the whole family, including moi, the fiancé, went over to support him. But for me, it was the first time seeing where half of Tommy's family comes from.

The oldest Middletons in the family live in a house that was built in the 1890s. HOW SWEET. T's granddaddy took us on the grand tour, pointing out renovations that his mother had done to the house. I loved it. The BEST part was the 'upstairs'... which, if Grandmother asks, I have NOT seen! It is basically their attic that has been finished, but still has maybe a hundred years worth of keepsakes. We saw yearbooks from 1953, gorgeous fo-real rocking horses, AND there was this green suit of furniture... antique green furniture!! So amazing.

But it was crazy to see where Tommy and his family grew up and to see where stories I've heard actually took place. : mushy feelings :

ALSO.

I wanted to lose some weight the summer before my senior year of college. One of the lil strategies I used was to be generous. I.e. oh, you take the last cookie. no, let susie have the big slice of cake. Etc. So, after a week of vacation, I decided to get back into that Wedding Day Diet on the plane ride back. Served with the flight's meal was a KitKat bar. Being good, I gave it to the person sitting next to me. That night, driving with my sister to Memphis, I ate half a box of Thin Mints.
