WE are man and wife! The Middletons! We got married on May 22 and one of my mom's best friends said we were pronounced man and wife at exactly 2:41pm. It was wonderful.
Our honeymoon was amazing. We felt like we were celebrities or crazy wealthy people. I'm waiting for my computer charger and then I can put some pictures up...words just won't do the trip justice!
Moving to Gainesville, Florida has been almost as surreal as the wedding day. It feels like we're on some secret vacation and it will have to someday end. But it has been wonderful! I've been cooking dinner and nesting and job hunting... we'll see what happens with that!
We've been trying to get all our info changed. We went to the DMV on our first Friday here. Patiently, we stood in line for about 45 minutes to get into a room as big as a bedroom. When we reached the desk, after we had checked online what documents were required, the lady informs us that I have to have my social security card changed first.
So leaving this office, we went to the social security office (thank God for GPS!!) and were met with an over-weight sweaty security guard who told it us it was too busy and we might as well come back next week. Poor Tommy wasted 3 hours of his last weekday of freedom. So we don't know when Tommy will get his license or anything. But I went in on Tuesday to the social security office and got my name changed in 15 minutes!! I just can't get pulled over until the card is mailed and then go get a new license... Here's to being a woman and changing your name! Woot.
After our two moms left from helping us move and took their generous pockets with them, we had to go buy groceries. I went thru the recipes and wrote down what we needed, Tommy went thru the Publix website and found coupons. Neither of us have ever bought so many groceries. But we were so proud of ourselves!! We bought tons of Publix brand, we got 10 ravioli cans because there was a special, and we are now eating leftovers, too! We saved 50 bucks... which isn't bad because we spent 130 bucks.... since we had a fifty dollar visa card as a wedding gift. So, a savings of 50 from a 180 dollar tab wasn't bad.
We swore we wouldn't go back in Publix for weeks. But a few nights later I needed spaghetti noodles. We went to the dumpy-ish Walmart.... No noodles! We had to go back into dumb Publix for one stinking thing. Sigh.
We are surprisingly used to having one car. In case someone random is actually reading this, we traded our two cars that were threatening to blow up and bought one dependable car! So I get up at 6:40am every morning and drive Tommy to work. It's been nice. I feel like I'm helping him out in some way. Of course, the conversation from my side isn't very stimulating in the morning....but he probably doesn't notice- ha. And then I'm up and can get more done in the day!
I've been sending out feelers to schools, and I finally got a response! Gainesville Country Day School wants me to make an appointment to interview in a couple of weeks. Let's hope it goes well! If I get a job, then this doesn't have to be a marriage based on... ramen.
Nothing but smiles on this face. Congrats again to both of you. Love the grocery store tale. Love will keep us together even when we eat beanie weanies. It's a new country song. Thrilled to hear how you're loving these days together. Proud of you both. (Elle is LH, the 2:41 girl)
